Valley First—one of the Interior’s oldest and most respected credit unions—is set to open the doors of its new RiverBend branch on Jan. 7, 2013.

Penticton, B.C.—With less than a month until opening, Valley First is putting the finishing touches on what will be a 2,600 square foot, boutique-style banking location. Adjoining the RiverBend Seniors Community in Brocklehurst, the branch offers community members a local, personal banking style. The branch also includes a drive-through ATM, giving members and non-members an additional, convenient banking option.

“Kamloops has a growing and diverse population,” says David Bushby, Valley First’s vice-president of banking and insurance. “We’re really excited about this project. Over the last 10 years we’ve become an established player in the Kamloops market. This additional location will give our new and existing members greater choice in banking and investment services.”

Valley First’s growing presence in the area is not confined to RiverBend. Simmons, Black & Emsland (SB&E) Insurance, which is already part of the Valley First network, will become a Valley First insurance office in early 2013.

“By rebranding SB&E as a Valley First location, we will be able to offer our insurance clients a wider range of specialized insurance products,” says Bushby. “It will also mean more localized support for our clients travelling around the Thompson Okanagan as well as greater growth and career opportunities for employees.”

Outside its branches, Valley First is a strong community supporter. This year, the community-focused organization became the lead sponsor of the Valley First Crown of Curling and jumped to the assistance of the food bank after its devastating fire. In addition, since its launch in March 2010, Valely First has raised 675 pounds of food and over $9,600 for the Kamloops Food Bank and Outreach Society through its Feed the Valley program.
