Valley First partners with Penticton Vees to raise nearly 3,300 pounds of food donations
February 18, 2013

Penticton, B.C.—Valley First and the Penticton Vees have once again partnered to make a real difference in the communities they serve and fight hunger in the Okanagan Valley.

The third annual Feed the Valley-sponsored Penticton Vees game night held Friday, Feb. 8 at the South Okanagan Events Centre was a resounding success as ticket holders, Valley First volunteers and family and friends joined forces to generate over 3,290 pounds of food to the Penticton Food Bank.

“I couldn’t be more proud of our sponsorship with the Penticton Vees, and how hard we’ve worked together to Feed the Valley,” says Valley First’s Iain MacIntyre. “To see the extent of the kindness and generosity of people across the South Okanagan to support their community is truly heartwarming.”

On that same night local firefighters and RCMP staged their annual Hogs versus Hosers grudge match and raised over $7,500 in support of the School District 67 school breakfast program.

During 2012, Valley First and its employees donated more than $350,000 to various charities, events and community organizations as well as volunteering more than 1,100 hours of their own time. Additionally, Valley First strengthened its partnerships with local food banks, raising more than $148,000 and collecting 32,000 pound of food through its Feed the Valley program.
