Valley First employees pitch in for local non-profits

October 2, 2014

Penticton, B.C.—Throughout last week hundreds of extra volunteer hands came to the aid of several non-profit organizations in communities across British Columbia. Valley First’s “Make a Difference Days” saw employees swap their offices for a day dedicated to giving back.

Employees from across Valley First lent a hand on 15 unique projects at one of 14 local community partner organizations. “We really appreciate Valley First’s help in maintaining our club,” says Jen Anderson, South Okanagan area director for Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs. “Volunteers like the Valley First crews are so valuable in helping us provide a fun, clean, safe place for kids to play.”

Make a Difference Days is in its second year at Valley First. Employees spend a half or a full workday giving back to local nonprofit agencies throughout the Okanagan, Similkameen and Thompson regions. This year’s volunteer service week contributed a total of 855 hours of service in B.C. communities. Non-profit partners benefiting from Make a Difference Days this year include:

  • Critteraid, Penticton
  • Easter Seals, Camp Winfield
  • Friends of Raise A Reader, Penticton
  • Kamloops Food Bank
  • Kelowna Community Food Bank
