Valley First deepens commitment to its communities through new partnership with Volinspire

December 3, 2015

PENTICTON, B.C. — Valley First, a division of First West Credit Union, today announces an exciting partnership with Volinspire, a new interactive social enterprise platform aimed at connecting volunteers, community organizations and businesses. Similar to a Facebook page that enables the user to build a profile listing their personal attributes, skills and expertise, Volinspire connects users to a database of volunteer opportunities and makes it simple to search out the activities that best suit their interests.

Launching today in Kelowna, Valley First is joined by Kelowna Community Resources and other local credit unions including Interior Savings and Prospera Credit Union as the first community partners for Volinspire.

“Giving back to our local communities has always been a huge part of who we are as an organization,” says Susan Byrom, First West Credit Union’s senior manager, community investment. “From our annual Make a Difference Days campaign to helping out with various local events, our employees in the Valley First region lend a hand in many different ways. With that said, Volinspire will help us better connect our team members with volunteer opportunities that matches their skillsets and interests in their respective communities.”

Byrom continues, “We’re thrilled to be one of the first community partners to use Volinspire and leverage the platform to help us deepen our commitment to serving our communities. It will be a fantastic tool for our team to use to share stories and photos of their volunteer experiences and see what their colleagues are doing with various community organizations. Launching initially in our Valley First region, we’re excited to bring Volinspire to our Envision and Island Savings regions in the new year.”

“Volinspire was developed as a model that helps connect our community overall,” shares Sheldon Gardiner, CEO of Volinspire. “Kelowna is the first city we’ve targeted for our rollout and we hope to have 100 companies in 100 cities join us within the next three years. It’s great to see Valley First take the lead in this important initiative and we’re so thankful for their continued support and encouragement.”
