WE'RE HERE FOR YOU IN CHALLENGING TIMES

November 17, 2021

A message from Paulo Araujo | President

Dear member,

I wanted to reach out to you amid the devastation we British Columbians are currently witnessing. I hope you and your family are safe and I want you to know that Valley First—and the whole team behind us at First West Credit Union—are here for you.

All Valley First branches remain open to serve you, including our branch in the community of Princeton—which has been severely impacted by the flooding. The team there is monitoring the situation daily and the hours of operation may change as required, with employee and member safety and wellbeing of utmost importance. You can find up-to-date hours of operation for any of our branches by using our branch locator. The advisors at our Member Advice Centre are also ready to assist you by telephone at 1-888-597-8083, no matter where you are, and can help you with your day-to-day banking needs.

Speaking of our branch team in Princeton—my heart goes out to them and our members and their families and the entire community. To all our members in Princeton and across our Valley First communities: if you experience personal devastation or financial difficulty due to flooding, fires or any other hardships related to the ongoing situation, know that Valley First is committed to supporting you. We’re here to help you get through this, with financial relief options we can explore with you. We helped thousands of members through some of their toughest days in 2020 and we’re ready to help you now.

I also want all our members to know that our credit union is working with several other credit unions to contribute funds to relief efforts, in response to our communities’ most pressing needs, including shelter and support for our fellow British Columbians who are currently displaced.

As a cooperative, we’re grounded in the belief of neighbour helping neighbour and it goes without saying that we, at Valley First, are here for you now amid challenging times.

Take care,

Paulo Araujo
President, Valley First
